Birth Certificate help for Cancun!

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Cancun in 3 weeks and we are using an official (raised seal) birth certificate and photo ID (driver's license) for travel papers. My question is this....My girlfriend is divorced and still uses her married name (Petersen). Her driver's license uses this name as well. Since her birth certificate obviously shows her maiden name (Jones), will this still work??? I am guessing that this should not matter, but anybody have problems with the birth certificate showing a different last name than their married name?? Also, she will be traveling with me who has an entirely different last name than her. I am guessing that the divorce should not even come into play. How will anyone know or care if she is??? Hope I didn't confuse everyone!!!
Thanks for any and all help in advance!!!
Craig/Dede

Why doesn't she just get a passport? It would make these kind of situations easier all around.

Craig, You should have no problems. My married name is on my photo ID, but of course my birth certificate has my maiden name, and we never had any trouble. Have a great trip!

since 9/11 things are a lot tighter. Would recommend you take your marriage
certificate which will tie your maiden name to your drivers license. They won't know about the divorce.

She should carry her Marriage License or divorce decree.

In the strictest sense it will cause a problem. It just depends on the individual immigration agent. I have found both Mexican and U.S. immigration agents to be very irratic on hundreds of trips in and out of Mexico. I would get a passport with expidited service before the trip then there would be no worries.
