BEWARE VANTAGE TRAVEL

Inefficient. My trip is leaving Aug 26 . My rommate received her documents 10 days ago. I have called them many times. Was told that the documents would be sent out 5 days ago. Today I find out that they still haven't been sent. TToday I also found out that they use an outside vendor to mail their documents. This vendor mails out just once a week. This is an unbelievable story. Travelling with Vantage isnt worth this aggrevation.

I think they are also affiliated with Grand Circle and OAT, both which get many complaints about customer servicel

Thanks for the warning. I always arrange my own trips so this wouldn't happen to me.

But do you mind telling us where you are/were going?

Grand Circle Travel and Overseas Adventure Travel are sister companies - owned by the same people.

Vantage Travel is owned by relatives of the people who own OAT and GCT, but is a completely separate company.

GCT and OAT have been great about mailing out travel documents around a month ahead of trips - we've never had any problems with either of these two companies.

No, they are not affiliated with GCT or OAT. The owners are related but they are separate companies.

Shirley,

You posted on 8/18 have you received your documents? I don't blame you for being upset, it is very close to your departure date.

Definitely do NOT choose VANTAGE TRAVEL for your cruise. We traveled w/ them and they are horrible with customer service, especially after they have gotten your money. We had to call and email them over and over until they finally sent us our tickets, which we received ONE day before our travel! DO NOT purchase their "Travel Protection Plan" thru Trip Mate - big rip off - they do not PROTECT you - they rip you off, just another ploy for their sales people to get more commission! This protection plan does not kick in until AFTER your regular health insurance has paid everything, and even then, they give you a very difficult time if something occurs during the trip and you need to file a claim. They are over priced compared to their competition and if something occurs, they are unresponsive before, during and after the trip. One would think they would want customers to return, however, their attitude is just horrific. Poor quality, do NOT choose Vantage or TRip Mate.

One thing that upset me with OAT was that our guide had to sleep in a cheaper hotel in Bangkok. The bus drivers often had to sleep on the bus. When we took the train between Chang Mai and Bangkok, we all slept in first class compartments, and our tour guide had to sleep in a 2nd class compartment with strangers. I didn`t like the way they treated the staff, just to save a few bucks.
