What country are you asking about? You just posted this in the "Latin America" forum.

Mexico for the Ocean Side or Gulf

Neither are better. There are so many places on both sides - Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Mexican Riviera on the Gulf side.

On the Pacific Los Cabos, Puerto Vallerta, Acapulco, Ixtapa - many more.

You should think about a budget and what fits your budget i.e. - it will probably be cheaper to fly into the cancun area if you are from the east coast or Cabo if you're from the West - then look at resorts in those areas.

What month are you going? We have gone to Cabo (Pacific waters) and to Loreto, Mexico (Sea of Cortez) - both trips in late Jan/early Feb. For us, the waters were too cold to do water sports - we are used to the Caribbean.
