Best Way From Cancun Airport To Isla Mujeres

My wife and I are going to Isla Mujeres in May,2013, and would appreciate any advise on the easiest way to get from the Cancun Airport to the Avalon Reef Club on Isla Mujeres and then back to the airport a week later. Would prefer to make arrangements in advance if possible. Thanks for any advise.

Last August, we used Best Day ( http://www.bestday.com/ ) to arrange for a shared shuttle from the airport to the Ultramar ferry which takes you over to Isla. The shuttle to the ferry was about $17 after tax for the both of us and was really easy. If I ever make it back to Isla, that's how I would do it again.

I am using USA Transfers next month (36 days until Posada del Mar, yippee). Have used them a couple of times in the past to go to Akumal, clean vans, safe drivers who speak English. You can pay when they drop you at the ferry, or ask when you book and you can pay in advance via PayPal if you prefer (the PayPal link is not on their website, they will email it to you).

I've always wondered about this question too.

Maybe this is a dumb question but what do you do on the other side... from the ferry to get to your hotel? Is it walkable? Taxis? Shuttles? You need a driver?

suze,
It depends where you are staying. North Beach is about 6 blocks away but in May when I travel it is pretty hot (plus I have back problems) so there is a taxi sitio right next to the ferry dock when you arrive on Isla. Some people like to use the tricycleros, these folks have big trikes and put your luggage onto them and you walk alongside. They work strictly for tips.
Cabs are pretty cheap there, most I have paid was 80 or 90 pesos from North Beach to the Punta Sur or Sac Bajo peninsula. Not aware of any shuttles on the island. There is a bus, but it only goes halfway down the island and runs on a very irregular schedule. In 7 trips I have seen the bus twice.

I made a reservation through Best Deal. Very easy and professional. Thanks to everyone for their advice.
