Best Towns on the Sea of Cortez

We are thinking of visiting the Baja area and would like to visit towns along the Sea of Cortez. Anyone have a favorite, and if so, what makes it your favorite? Looking for laid back with a nice beach and calm seas.

Well I only know one, so can't legitimately call it my "favorite"... but La Paz. It's lovely. Living up to its name of peace. An authentic Mexican town that isn't overrun with tourism. The nicest beaches are outside town though, to the north or south. Club El Moro is a great hotel there. I'm not sure from your post, but this might be a larger town than you are seeking.

Having "bussed" Through the entire length of Baja Sur I saw a number of lovely beach towns. I especially liked Loreto.
However I would recommend either La Paz it's self or South of there on the most lovely East Cape. Fabulous beaches with lovely Inns, BUT very isolated.
