best tours Puerto Vallarta?
If you could take only two tours during a 1-week stay in Puerto Vallarta, what would they be? Interested in snorkeling, wildlife, rain forest -- prefer something active. We leave Jan. 6th and wonder if we should prebook tours, also which ones people think are best! Thanks so much.

wonder if we should prebook tours
I wouldn't pre-book anything ... your hotel likely has an Activities desk with an agent there who can point you towards numerous tour options (most with glossy brochures to peruse) and maybe give you an idea of which ones other guests enjoyed the most ... there is no need to sign up far ahead of time. I would recommend the canopy tours. We booked through Vallarta Adventures at the hotel. It was a fun and exhilarating experience!

But sometimes you can get fairly significant discounts in the price by booking online ahead of time.
I would recommend www.vallarta-info.com I can't say which is best because I never do formal activities myself, even though I've been to PV 16 times! |
If you want the best time of your life, book a canopy tour with Los Veranos. My sister and I (both in our 50's) decided to be brave and loved every minute of it. http://www.canopytours-vallarta.com/

There are also activities you can plan and do on your own such as: take a water taxi from the pier on Los Muertos out to Yelapa for the day, or ride a bus out to one of the towns to the north (Bucerias, Punta Mita, etc.)

The jungle tour was alot of fun.
We did alot of tours but booked all from the hotel. I've never done the canopy tour but heard very good feedback from people. Puerto Vallarta is not know for snorkeling. |
Thank you all so very much! Will prebook a canopy tour online, which I believe gives a price break. Among the whale watching tour operators, has anyone tried Pegaso (sailboats), OceanFriendly, or VallartaWhales? Any advice on these, considering we DON'T want to watch whales from a booze cruise? Thanks again!

I recommend Vallarta Whales, http://www.vallartawhales.com/

re: the canopy tours. Is the only way to get there is through the tour company, or could one take a car. How long is the actaul canopy tour (zipline) part. There are four of us, and we were thinking of hiring a cab for the day, and doing this (if it's practical)as we want to go into the jungle anyway.

Los veranos provides transport, which would cost you over US$20 by taxi. From their office it's aprox. 4 hours, office to office.
