Best tour operators in Chile (Santiago)?

It seems like there are dozens of tour operators (specifically day tours) in Chile. I would like to find out what tour company is the best to work with, and what your recommendations are.

Can't help with a tour operator but I would say after spending 5 weeks in Chile in 2006 that it's really not necessary to take a tour - it's a very easy country to get around (fly/drive/bus). We spoke only hello/goodbye/thank you Spanish and were fine.
