best time for argentina
 

Planning a trip to Argentina and wondering when is the best time to go - October or November? or March, April? If we go in October, is that enough time to plan, reserve etc.. Also, can a person who eats fish only (no meat, chicken or shell fish) still have a good eating experience in BA or the rest of the country? Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestions etc..

October/Nov. is probably the best time, as it is spring. March/April would be good too (early fall).

I don't think it is too late for Oct./Nov.

About the fish only, you should be OK (but missing the best steaks in the world, of course), as long as you also eat vegetables, or pasta, or salads, or pizza.

About advice, suggestions, etc., your question is too general and I would suggest further reseach in this forum and in tripadvisor.com's Argentina forum, coming back later with more specific questions.

Only fish? We have in the NW really good vegetarian food but... fish only? Maybe we have to choose restaurant carefully, but it would not be a problem...

We visited Buenos Aires in November and the weather was great. We had only one heavy rain, mostly during the night so didn't interfere with our plans. Suggest you visit Iguazu Falls. We were there for two nights. The falls are magnificent.

thank you for the feedback. I meant that I do not eat meat but do eat fish. Always seek out vegetarian restaurants so if you have any recommendations, would be happy to get them.

Giovanna - how was the weather at Iguazu Falls in November? Did you stay at the Sheraton? I understand they did some renovations. We're contemplating booking flt. and stay at the falls with an agent from BA as we have been quoted what seems a high rate from here in the US.

The weather was really pretty good, hot but not oppressively so. We stayed in Puerto Iguazu at the Hotel St. George (see my review of Trip Advisor). Lots of negative comments from others, but we thought it was fine. Our room was clean; just a little on the shabby side. The grounds were great and it has a great pool area. The hotel was under renovation when we were there and many of the rooms had been redone.

We booked with a BsAs TA a month or more before we left home, communicating mostly by e-mail but a few phone calls. I'm glad we did, as it was a very busy time of year and our agent had a problem getting us a hotel reservation. We checked out the Sheraton, but felt the rates were too high. We flew LAN Argentina, which was fortunate because Argentina Aerolineas was on strike. Here again we weren't able to get the early morning departure we wanted because it was fully booked.

Thank you so very much for your quick reply, Giovanna! I'll check your trip report on Trip Advisor. It's good to know that you managed to put a trip together without booking so far in advance. That's usually our problem and I was worried that we may be too late in planning this trip when I checked availability in the Lake District.
