Best room at Ylang Ylang, Montezuma
Hi there, We are a family of 3 and are looking at Ylang Ylang - can anyone recomend the best room at Ylang Ylang - it seems like we might really enjoy the dome. Anyone who stayed there were the fans enough or do you need air?
Thanks! |
I have just booked my wedding at Ylang Ylang for February 2009. The reviews on TripAdvisor are fabulous. I think if you are a family of three and like the idea of a dome, you'd be better off with Dome #5. This dome has 2 queen beds, and depending on how old the third party in your family is, this may or may not work. Another suggetion would be to book Coco Joes which sits beside Dome #4 but is very popular with families(I believe it has 2 floors). It is also right on the beach like the domes. Good luck, I don't think you can go wrong at this resort! I am counting the days!

Have you stayed here before - i am slightly concerned that there is no air conditioning? Also are there really that many bugs inside? and if so like what kind?
Thanks a lot! |
We had no problem with bugs.
Probably because of the cute little geckos that we'd occasionally see in our room. |
well we ended up with an oceanfront room if anyone has any pictures or has stayed in one of these can you let me know how it was - I am sure it will be fine it just looked like the dome was neat but my daughter would have had to sleep on the floor on a mattress.

Flycatcher, I assume you are booked into one of the upstairs suites? The hotel on the beach has downstairs rooms and upstairs lofted suites? If so my husband and I stayed here in '04 I think. We stayed one night in a dome and then 3 nights in one of the upstairs suites.
The dome that we were in was tucked up into the hill, yes they are neat - cute, but small and yes, hot, we had little air circulation. I was pleased to have had the opportunity to stay in one and I am sure if we had been able to get one of the water front domes, this would have better suited us. However, in the end we were very pleased to be moved to the room. Our room was very large, It was way too much room for us. 2 beds down, 1 up in the loft. Large bathroom, nice balcony, kitchenette. Very close to the beach. Monkeys and birds outside our doors always, beautiful views, nice breeze. We loved our stay. As to the bugs, yes, you will have bugs (flying insects) in your rooms. Especially if you leave the lights on at night, like if you go to town for dinner and leave all the lights on! As you know, flying insects are drawn to light. And we did have geckos. Never a problem. Anyway, this trip was pre digital! I do have some pictures I can scan and send to you if you like. Email me at [email protected] |
We stayed at an oceanfront room on the lower level and found it perfectly comfortable--not too hot at all.
Of course, we spent as little time as possible in the room itself, given the paradise that was outside. Thank you dfarmer i will e-mail you and thank you RAC - i believe that must be the room we will be in. I did not want to take one of the upstairs ones it seemed like it would be too large and the dome seemed neat probably for 2 but really how long are you in the room!
Thank you guys so much for all the info if you know of any special spots in the area that you can see any animals because i get up every am at 5 to birdwatch. THANKS |
