Best place Mexico
Besides Cabos, what is the best place in Mexico for a 4-6 day vacation
|
I would vote for the Cancun/Playa area.
|
I like Cozumel, and I would also agree with Susan on Playa del Carmen.
Lots to do and see in both places.
You could split your time between any of Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen as they are all easily accessible from each other.
Depends on if you're looking for partying and shopping (Cancun and Cozumel) or diving/snorkling (Cozumel) or hanging out on a beautiful beach (Cancun and PDC).

I really enjoy Ixtapa. It has everything beaches, nightlife, good restaurants, friendly people, and it's not overcrowded or americanized yet because it is a newer resort. I would definately reccomend this place.
|
For such a very short stay I'd say any of the resort cities, maybe which ever is closer for you to fly into including: Cancun, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Ixtapa/Zijuat, Acapulco. Personally I'd put Cabo at the very bottom of that list.
|
My vote goes for Playa del Carmen, esp. if you are flying out of an eastern city. I agree with the comment that you can easily spend time b/n Playa, Cozumel, and Cancun. I haven't personally been to Islas Mujeres but there is alot of good press about it (check out frommers.com, they recently had an article about it).

It depends what you like- partying & night life (Cabos, Cancun, Acapulco) or just relaxing. Mazatlan isn't bad for the latter, though the water is colder.

Having recently returned from Acapulco, I actually pine for Playa.

My vote is for Playa del Carmen also. We spent 2 weeks there in Feb and loved it. Tulum is just south of there and the beaches are incredible. Playa has something for everyone. Wendy

Erin-

What you described sounds just what I'm looking for! Can you provide more details on Ixtapa- is it easy to get around on foot or by taxi or bus? Good hotels? I've read some comments in guidebooks and posts about being hassled in Mexico by time shares and vendors. Can you comment specifically on how that is in Ixtapa?

Thanks!

I've been to both to Cabo and Puetro Vallarta... enjoyed P.V way better. the people and places were great... stayed at Paridise Village in P.V and Villa Del Pal Mar in Cabo... 5 star resorts the treated you like a king.... highly suggest to any one... have a good trip going again with 8 friends in February.. hope to see you there!!!

Janey,
If you stay at one of the hotels in the strip on playa del palmar beach almost everything is within walking distance. The only time we took a taxi was to go to Zhijuatanejo(neighboring town). I've always stayed at the Dorado Pacifico and love it. Sometimes when eating out children will approach you to buy gum and there are vendors on the beach. Watch out for them, you will get a better deal if you book tours through the hotel you are staying at. Braids is OK. Hope this helped. Feel free to ask more questions.

I would choose Zihuatanejo over Ixtapa any time. They are only minutes apart, but Ixtapa is just a resort - it was created as a resort and has what I think is a very sterile atmosphere. I also found that the waves were huge at the beach there and water was much nicer in Zihuatanejo for swimming.

However, all these destinations are beach towns? Nancy, any interest in something away from the beach?
