Best Beaches in South America

My fiance and I were considering South America for our honeymoon in September. My first thought was to go to Chile because of the beaches, lake regions and wineries, but I am worried about the weather in September. I have also considered going to Brazil and staying in Rio for a week, and then heading to the Amazon or Iguazu Falls for a few days. We have two weeks for our honeymoon and are looking for a nice combination of relaxtion and site seeing activities. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated!

September is too early for lying on the beach in central Chile, although you might get the occasional hot enough day in the north.

If you want beaches in South America Graziella is absolutely correct - Brazil is the place to go, not to mention the friendliness of its people. Also, beaches in Brazil have the best vibe anywhere.

Look north, in Bahia state, or in Pernambuco, Porto de Galinhas (a mall beach town). Also, only a two hour drive from Rio is Buzios, a good beach destination, though I think September is still low season. Check some weather sites for the forecasts for each of these places. Brazil is huge and from south to north the weather can vary a lot.

Another great spot to add to your trip is Buenos Aires. Good air connections from Brazil and a great city, with good hotels, fantastic food and much to buy. Have fun.

hiya, another vote for Brasil, and a note, the further north you are the more guarantee of good and warm weather. Have a look at Fortaleza, Natal, porto de galinhas, Natal has the most amazing sand dunes, lots of fun times renting beach buggies !! It's less developed, less people speak english but laid back and fun, restaurants etc. great.
