Best airfare rates
We would be flying to San Jose from Philadelphia. What is the cheapest airline between the two points? Don't mind one stop en route. Thanks for any guidance here.

best bet is to check daily through Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, etc. Check each one, they don't all offer the same deals and be prepared to pay more than ever. Good luck.

we got great airfare through ticotravel.com and flew in taca from miami for $200 less than it was quoted thru the taca.com website. check it out.

watch the cancellations penalties carefully with the reduced fare sites like expedia and tico travel. We ended up with Delta, and while the flight is nonrefundable and as cheap as any of these other sites offers, IF we have to cancel, they will hold the money on account for one year for future bookings, plus a $50 per ticket rebooking fee. It's not a good policy -but it sure beats losing all of it as we would have done on some of these sites!

Above- with Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. you have the same cancellation policies as the airlines. Just read the fine print.

If I remember this mess correctly, the hassle was over a specific brand of hotel, Woogoo. And it certainly appears that expedia did not do proper due diligence on this brand. (That said, I also think there is an element of let the buyer beware involved in all online purchases, as well as you gets whats you pays for.) I've never heard or read of any major complaints about Expedia and airline ticketing.

We usually fly with either Continental or American. Our experience has been that, occasionally, we've found cheaper rates at their websites than with Travelocity (which we always keep track of and frequently use). Also, there have been a few times that I have called the airline directly and found cheaper rates than what they had posted on their websites. You just never know. All of these options are worth checking before you book. Surprises abound! :)
