Best AI in Costa Rica

Looking for honeymoon AI on pacific coast.
Info and pictures would be appreciated!

Stan, I would strongly suggest that you look into independent hotels instead of AIs in Costa Rica.
First of all Costa Rica does not have may AI resorts and to the extent it has them, I have never seen one good review of them.
On the other hand, Costa Rica has plenty of unique and romantic hotels and B&Bs which are great for honeymoons.
Check out places like Punta Islita, Makanda, Lapa Rios, Capitan Suizo, Villa Caletas (all located on the Pacific coast).
If you truly prefer large resorts, I have heard good things about Melia Playa Conchal (which I do not believe is AI).

Stan,
I totally agree with Iza and she has made the best recommendations of hotels that are GREAT for honeymooners. I hope you decide to check one or more of them out, but, to answer your question, I've seen a couple of nice reports on Allegro Papagayo (NOT to be confused with the Allegro Carribbean Village which you need to stear clear of because of it's location) and I think Barcelo Playa Tambor is okay as well, although somewhat isolated and not a great area for tours. Whatever you decide, have a great time on your honeymoon!

Stan:

I stayed at the Allegro Papagayo in March of this year. It was very nice. Good food! The beach is not all that great, but there is another private beach they will take you to by boat that is supposed to be nice, but we did not check it out. I would recommend it if you're looking for an AI. We also had lots of fun staying at other places, too, that were not AI. If we go back, we'll do non AI just to be able to try more places to eat. However, for an AI the food at the Allegro was excellent--best and most choices I've ever had at an AI. I wouldn't hestitate to stay there again if we chose to go AI. Hope this helps.

Tia

P.S. If you do a search, I think I posted a trip report specific to this resort either last week or the week prior.

Melia will become the Paradisus and become AI Dec 15. It is the nicest IMHO.

Right now Melia offers both Ep and AI.

I agree with others however the small luxury resorts would be great for a honeymoon.
