Best Acapulco Beaches/Snorkling?

My husband and I are looking to spend our 15 year anniversary in Acapulco in September. Thinking of the Princess hotel, but does anybody have recent experience with what hotels have the better/best beaches? And where is the snorkeling good? Has anyone taken the tour to Taxco silver shopping? How much does that typically run?

And, for my husband...quantes es cervesas?

Thanks for any info you have!!

The Princess is a nice place but you will be removed from the downtown area of Acapulco.

If you want to be sort of secluded , then okay.
Maybe you will want to be downtown so you can walk around and see the sites and shop, or at least walk along the main strip in Acapulco.

I took the tour toTaco.
This is the Silver Capital of mexico ( if not the world).
I went with a samll group, just 6-8 of us in a nice air conditioned van.

We stopped for lunch both coming and going and also had dinner in a nice open air roof top restaurant in Taxco.

The streets in Taxco are veeerrry narrow and it is an experience to have a taxi drive you around , on streets where two cars cannot pass each other !!!!
It seems like a hilly little sleepy Mexican town. There is silver everywhere and you can buy a silver dustpan or broom or necklace etc.

I paid about $ 45.00 person but his included the dinner.

Thanks...do you know if there are public buses from the "Diamante" hotel zone to downtown, or is it just cabs that go out there?

Sorry not sure about the buses, but I would assume tat to this area there would have to be buses.

As you come down the hill into Acapulco Bay/town area, that huge white house on your left hand side with the terrific view of all of Acapulco belongs to Sylvestor Stallone.

Take the Acapulco City Tour because this includes a lot and you get to see the famous Cliff Divers.
After they diver, they climb up the cliff to where the tourist are and you give them a tip,
then you stand beside these nice looking Mexican Boys and your husband can take your picture !!!!

The beach at the Princess (and all the neighboring hotels in that area) is on the open ocean, so it is beautiful to look at, but the surf is usually too strong for my swimming capabilities. You can rent a cabana (I think they rebate the cost if you buy enough cerveza or other refreshements) to have a nice day on the beach and just head back to one of the pools if you want to swim.

I don't think I've ever seen snorkeling there....maybe in the lagoon at Pie de la Cuesta?

I've never taken one, but I have seen the buses to and from downtown, it's about 20-30 minutes one way depending on traffic.
