BEST 5* HOTEL IN BUENOS AIRES
 

Following certain recomendations, I will travel to Buenos Aires in June for my 10th wed. for 06 days.
I ve consider. the Hilton, Four Seasons,Sofitel and Ceasar Park.
I Dont like antique looking or "old" style hotels, I prefer modern looks and cleaner ambiance.

please help me to choose

Ceasar Park is overrated. The Hilton, while very nice, is not in the same league as the Sofitel or the Four Seasons. The Sofitel is newer, but my hands down choice would be the Four Seasons....location, ambiance. etc.....

Four Seasons if you want a "modern" decor. However, the Alvear Palace is the most prestigious hotel in all of South America. The location of Alvear Palace is in a slightly better location than Four Seasons.

I agree with Thin....the Alvear is the best hotel in South America, but it is very classical......The location of the Four Seasons is excellent, although a couple of blocks from the heart of Recoleta......
A new Grand Hyatt is under construction in the same zone, so expect some 5 star competition in the near future.

Can anyone tell me about Claridge Hotel? Area? Also Kempinski Chateau? Area & hotel?

They both suck. See my post on the other thread for details. There are a dozen hotels in the same price range that are far better choices....

What about the Marriott Hotel?

Can anyone tell me anything about the Melia Hotel?

How does Loi Suites compare with some of these five star properties? There have been some pretty good recommendations before regarding Loi Suites. We are contemplating an executive suite with king size bed on upper floor with view at USD155+tax. Any advice would be greatly appreciated for our first trip there for 5 days in late August.

The hotel is nearly new, and located just around the corner from restaurant row (Junin)in the heart of the tourist district of Recoleta. The lobby is nice....I have never been in an executive suite....but the junior suite is a bit small, though tastefully decorated. The lobby is great and the location can't be beat.....not sure what view you will get from an upper floor though...LoiSuites fronts onto Vincente Lopez....accross the street is a concrete courtyard of some sort and a building with lofts......nothing very scenic as far as I can tell, but the higher floors should be quieter! Friends who have stayed in the hotel tell me the service is excellent.

Thank you Drdawggy. I guesss we will try for a good room and if we dont like it we have the telephone numbers of a few other places like Sofitel, Four Seasons and the Alvear Palace. I always take notice of ThiGorjus' recommendations and I have marked afternoon coffee at the Alvear on our itinerary.

You are welcome. For the money, I think you made a good choice All of the other hotels you mention cost more than LoiSuites, and have the bonus of location, location, location.
Especially for a first time traveler, the location of the LoiSuites is perfect. Recoleta village is at your doorstep.

I conducted a very detailed review of Alvear Palace on their web site and elsewhere. I was rather horrified by the best price I could achieve. They are top class London Mayfair prices. I am sure we will enjoy afternoon tea there ! I totally concur with your comment. Thanks again.

The best place to have coffee in Recoleta is at Cafe de la Paix, across the street from Recoleta Cemetery. I can only imagine what a coffee would cost at Alvear Palace.

Cafe La Biela, across the street from Cafe de la Paix, is also nice, but their outside cafe does not get the sun because of potted trees surrounding the patio. You need the sun if you are going to sit outside in chilly August.
