Belize - Where to Go?

I've been to San Pedro, Ambergris Caye a few times over the years and am thinking I'd like to visit a new destination in Belize. I like what San Pedro was 10 years ago - no hustle and bustle, no cars, no crime, few people. Does that still exist in Belize? Perhaps I'm expecting too much. I understand that their growth was inevitable, but now I'm looking for something else.

I want a beach destination and not jungle or inland. Low-key, but with some access to some amenities. It's just my husband and me and we're in our late 30s.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. If you know of a destination that isn't in Belize, but meets the no hustle and bustle, fewer people criteria please feel free to mention that too.

I have never been to Belize- have been planning for some time now for our first trip in February when we will spend a few nights on AC then the rest on Caye Caulker. Have you been there? I also really like the look of St. George Caye- have you considered that?

Have you been to the out islands of the Bahamas? How about the island of Culebra, Puerto Rico>

Caye Caulker is smaller, less visited and more laid back.
