Belize Vacation

My partner and I went to Belize at Christmas. We really love this country and would return there any time. We stayed at three differt places (Bananas on the beach), Kitty's Place (small community on the beach), and Duploy's (in the rain forest)....we loved all three and would be happy to answer questions about them or other parts of our trip.

Note that Kitty finally sold her place. It is now called Sak's.

Now why on earth would someone rename an institution if they want to make any money. At least put it in the terms of sale....

WOW....Kitty's was an institution. Hard to believe the renamed it.

Skinholt,

I am planning our trip to AC, Cayo and Placentia and am wondering that it may be too much travel in 10 days. How long did you stay in each place? Would it be better to stay in 2 places (5 nights on a beach (either AC or Placentia), 5 nights in the jungle). Any/all comments/recommendation would be appreciated!

In June, we did 3 nts in Cayo (Chaa Creek) and 7 nts AC (Banyan Bay). Based on our experience, I'd say 3 locations is do-able.

I would agree with the last person, that 3 locations is o.k., but we were there a bit longer. You might want to email Katie [email protected], she is a great source of information and I think would be able to give you a more specific answer.

Sorry, me again. Of course it all depend on what kind of traveler you are. I tend to like to stay in one place serveral days to relax and use it as a home base. So, perhaps 2 locations at 5 days each would be best. If it were me, I'd go back to Deploy's in the jungle, and Kitty's (now a new name) in Placentia.

Hi: We are planning a trip to Belize this Christmas 2005. Did you book hotels ahead of time or as you went along? We plan on 3 weeks Caye Caulker, San Ingnacio, Tikal & Placencia. Any recos??? Thanks

Philin, I would prebook your hotels for the time right around Christmas and New Years. As for places to stay, what type of budget are you looking at? Do you want to be right in San Igancio or in the jungle? How about Placencia, in the village or one of the resorts further north on the peninsula?
