Belize in June?
My extended family is considering a trip next summer - dictated by school schedules - and were discussing Belize. My spouse and I just returned from a trip and LOVED it, but I am bit concerned about the weather in June. Is it crazy to consider? We are all experienced travelers (well, except the young children...) and I don't mind some rain if it's warm. Plus, we'll want some cultural and active pursuits, not just laying about on a beach. We don't have a specific region (yet) so I'm looking for advice on what are the best options.
Thank you! |
3 out of 4 of our Belize trips have been during the summer months - rain has fallen almost exclusively at night.

We've been in early July and did get daytime rain, but nothing that prevented us from doing any of our plans. It was hot where we were, so it would be a warm rain. We've really enjoyed Lamanai Outpost Lodge, Chaa Creek, and Victoria House.

I've been three times in June. One, the weather was perfect, warm and sunny. Another there were some clouds and a bit of rain. Still warm and pleasant. Third trip, an early tropical storm arrived. Four solid days of rain.
The last was sort of an anomaly. Pretty rare to have a tropical storm in June. I've read that the further south in the country you go, the more likely you are to get rain. Not sure if that's true in June. |
Impossible to predict weather in advance and trends are following global warming, so less rains rather than more, would be the best bet, sadly enough

There is no reliable weather pattern for June any more.
Typically, June is wet with rain a couple of times a week, but I remember some Junes that have had almost no rain. Last year was quite wet (but so was the whole year, so not a typical June). When it does rain, it's often brief showers rather than all day downpours, and often rain falls in the very early morning hours and the days are fine & sunny. |
Yes, certainly don't expect to predict the weather (!) but the anecdotes are helpful. We'll see if the rest of the family is open to the 'risk'. Seems ok to me!
