Belize gay friendly?

Is Belize gay friendly? Any gay fodorites that have been there care to comment?

I'm not gay, but I've been banging around Belize for a dozen years and have written a few books on the country.

Belize is not particularly gay friendly, but it is not gay unfriendly, either. There are no gay or lesbian resorts (though a few owners are gay or lesbian), but most gay and lesbians who travel in Belize report absolutely no problems.

Don't know Beliz, but suggest Puerto Vallarta.

Blue Chairs Beach Club, among others...

PV is a reasonably gay friendly town.

Our population is way too small to support bars or restaurants that cater specifically to a gay clientele. So we all end up dancing in the same clubs. Belize people are pretty much live and let live and you'll find gay Belizeans in every facet of society and commerce. I am a Belize based tour operator and have a Gay and Lesbian page on my web site to let every one know they are and will feel welcomed in Belize. Very few people in tourism especially will care about sexual perferances. You might take a look at San Pedro, where a fair amount of gay people live and work.
