Belize, Costa Rica or suggestions.....where to visit wildlife with kids?
 

We are looking for a destination that is easy and safe to travel to (and easy to travel to with kids) where we will be able to hike and see lots of native tropical wildlife (tropical birds a big plus). We are not really into snorkeling and some of us are prone to seasickness.....so we are not looking to spend too much time on the water. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. For what it's worth, we are traveling from NYC.

We love Belize and aren't especially interested in Costa Rica, but for your list CR seems like more the ticket. We love fishing, snorkeling, diving, caving, hiking, Maya ruins, and contemporary indigenous culture so Belize is an obvious choice for us. This forum will provide lots of great ideas for you. Sounds like Costa Rica.

If you want wildlife, to me CR is much better than Belize for that especially if you're not into snorkeling or diving. Manuel Antonio is really popular for families with young kids. Check out Tulemar Bungalows and see if that appeals to you. MA has a beautiful beach inside the park and easy access to tons of wildlife - lots of monkeys in that area. Lots of good restaurants with sunset views as well. If you want something more off the grid, I'd go to the Osa Peninsula. Bosque del Cabo is where we stayed, and it's wonderful.

If you go to Osa, check out the new Osa Mountain Resort(http://www.osamountainresort.com/); haven't been, but it looks ideal for a family looking for wildlife, etc., instead of beach.
