Belize Ambergies Caye

Looking for the Best Beach resort on Ambergies Caye. 3 woman middle age would like to find a resort on a beach that is half way decent. I have read that most beaches have lots of sea grass and is not good to swim in from the shore. We like to awim and snorkle. Thanks

We loved this one - pretty awesome if you don't mind being secluded and want to snorkel from shore:

The resort listed above is essentially the only place on Ambergris that is easily swimmable to the reef. Elsewhere, you'll need to take a short boat ride. Or, kayak out.

Tranquility Bay is quite remote. Far enough north that the water taxis don't go that far. It is a lovely place, but, too isolated for me.

Ramon's, on the south edge of town, has a pretty nice beach. Decent loungers and you can walk in and swim. There is a small artificial reef off the end of their dock, so, you can snorkel there, but, it's nothing like being out at the reef.

I think the rooms are a bit overpriced, but, it's a very popular place.

Newer, more upscale properties, with lovely pools, would include Coco Beach or Grand Caribe. Both are a couple of miles north of town.

Also, take a look at Victoria House or the Phoenix.

More moderate, Caribbean Villas has a pretty beach, but, the water is shallow. There's an artificial reef off of their dock as well. They also have a cute little beach bar that serves very good breakfasts and lunches.

We stayed at Victoria House, and it was fantastic. We were willing to do our snorkeling via quick boat trip. Hol Chan is amazing. The beach at Victoria House is huge with beautiful white sand, palm trees, hammocks, loungers. Nice pool with waiters that will brings drinks, etc. We like to snorkel from shore usually, but we didn't miss it. Nice restaurant and bar as well.

Best can be price or beach or close to town or......alot of things but yes I would say Victoria House is the best property on the caye.

Would agree Victoria House is very nice. We just stayed four nights. Tranquility Bay would, in my opinion, not be a good choice for 3 middle age women. That said Victoria house is very expensive and a unit that would accommodate 3 might well be beyond what the poster is looking for. Check out Phoenix (condo style units) or others situated not in town (too busy) but accessible to town for dining and shopping options. Good luck. The properties in North AC are nice; however many require water taxi at night to get anywhere as the road is very very bumpy and taxis and golf carts at night are not an option.

Thanks very every ones help. We don't mind snorkling by boat. We would like to have a beach area to walk out and swim. Yes Victoria house appears to be very nice, but pricey. Any other suggestions

Do you have a budget in mind?

The only real options that have decent walk in swimming from the beach, and are close to town, are the above mentioned Ramon's and Banyan Bay. Banyan Bay has had some issues with beach erosion, and the beach isn't as nice as it once was, but, still swimmable.

You can walk along the beach for miles pretty much anywhere on the island.

you asked for the best beach resort on AC but now the best one is too pricey. what exactly is it you are looking for?

Did you look at Banana Beach? It's about a mile south of town.

Banana Beach is closer to 1 1/2 miles south of town. It also has a sea wall in front of it. Although it is easy walking distance to the beach at Banyan Bay.
