Beaches

Is topless permitted on the beaches as in the Riviera Maya areas of Mexico.

Topless is common in Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres and Tulum.

Not nearly as common in Cancun, Akumal and Puerto Morelos, and not common at all on Cozumel (except on Naked Beach over by Mezcalito's.)

I guess I should have asked is it as common in Belize as it is in Mexicao's Yucatan area.

Been to the beaches in Belize four times in the past two years. No topless at all. None. Nada. In San Pedro, there are loads of local kids on the beach as well as tourists. I'm sure there are isolated areas north or south where toplessness wouldn't be a problem. But, it appaently isn't the thing to do in the more populated areas.

You occasionally see topless tourists at hotels in San Pedro, but it isn't common and isn't nearly as accepted as in the Yucatan or in the French and Dutch islands in the Caribbean. Belize is pretty conservative and has a British colonial background.
