Beach Accomodations on Nicoya Peninsula

My friend and I are still planning our first trip to CR!! it's coming up...in late JUNE. We are so excited! As I said in a different post, we have the first part of our trip figured out, it's the beach part of the trip that we find ourselves going around and around in circles. WE ruled out M.A. and have settled on somewhere in the Northern Pacific Region...Guanacaste or Nicoya Peninsula. We want to find a NOT 5 star looks like it belongs anywhere USA accommodation...NO GOLF courses- we want a relaxing, place, close to the beach: either on the beach or with an awesome beach view, we want to experience the CR culture but not at or near a party town or location. We want to feel completely safe. We'd like to be able to swim in the ocean that is near our accommodations- we're hoping for some great referrals here. and even debates about Guanacaste vs. Nicoya. Thanks for your help! Plumboy, I know your vote ;-) it's still on our list!

Ylang Ylang resort just outside of Montezuma (I'm starting to sound like a broken record...). Gorgeous beachfront location with beautifully landscaped grounds, tons of wildlife, incredible food, and the friendliest staff. Just check out the recent reviews on Trip Advisor. Our favourite place so far in Costa Rica. No exaggeration, it's beyond belief!

Ok- I think we have narrowed our choices, thanks to you all1

to ylanylang hotel Conchal (and then possibly la finistera ro capitan suizo but i think the last 2 are going to be to much un Costa Rican for what we are looking for).

regarding ylang ylang do you feel it is truly safe? as it will be just the 2 of us. We have read mixed reviews about the area and it's safety.

thanks!

I never felt "unsafe" at Ylang Ylang. You are removed from the town of Montezuma, and there is always security on the grounds. I wouldn't give it a second thought, just use common sense when walking into town if you go, especially at night.
