Barra de Navidad, Melaque or La Manzanilla? Where to stay?

Am booked to stay in La Manzanilla but I saw a few pictures from the Internet and it looks VERY 'rustic'. My 71 year old mother is going too. We like the type of place that's on the brink of discovery. Like white, clean and swimmable beaches, clean and small town, fishing, snorkeling. Should we stay in La Manzanilla? Would we be better off staying in Barra de Navidad or Melaque? We plan on a 13 night stay. Could really use some help. Do you have any recommendations for accomodations? Your help is MUCH appreciated! Thank you.

Caroline Spent this winter (96 ) in this area. I ;would recomend Barra de Navidad because of your Mother, the streets in Melaque are not the best and they have a ni;ce walking area in Navidad. Buy a good guide book of this area for the best info. The Mexican people are wonderful. Have a good time and enjoy
