Bariloche - taking bus from Buenos Aires

I learned about his town in the Andes from a poster on this board (thanks!). It seems the perfect side trip for me for a few days after staying in Buenos Aires - I figure I can see the I. Falls someday when I go to Brazil.

Am I correct in thinking it is much more affordable and scenic to take a bus ride there from BA rather than fly?

Alexa, I would fly and leave more time for you in Bariloche and surrounds. The bus takes a lonnnnnnnnng time and after you get out of B.A the centre is not very scenic especially when you compare it with the area around Bariloche. I will try and look up the place that I stayed at right on the lake which was really great value for money and included breakfast and a really good English speaker owner.

Here is a good accommodation website for Bariloche:
I stayed at the Hosteria Santa Rita which was recommended by a local person and is on the list on the above website. There is a beautiful hotel, also right on the water a short walk from there and it is really upmarket and beautifully built but I have not stayed there - will try and find that one too for you. Cost at Santa Rita a couple of years ago was about $48US per night for two people with breakfast.

ALL of your info is so helpful. Can't thank you enough!
That hotel sounds perfect.

Thanks again.
