Bambu, Sol, or Pizote at BdC?

Which standard cabina is the best to stay in and why? All 3 are presently open and I have looked at the pics that they sent. Pizote looks like it has the best view, but I m sure someone that actually has stayed in them would have alot better idea.

Also, we are considering whether to stay 4 or 5 nights. I read that 4 nights is ideal and was considering using the extra night combined with the one extra night we have would give us 2 and using it to go to either San Gerardo de Dota, Pueto Viejo, or Rancho Naturalista. We would love to see the quentzal along with birds and animals.

we are additional staying 1 night san jose, 2 nights at Playa del Cabo, 3 nights at Monteverde, 3 nights at Arenal and 1 night at Poas

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Bill

Are all of these standard cabinas? Just curious because I don't know all the names yet. Anyway, I didn't stay in Pizote, but right next to it in Gecko. However, we'll be in Pizote for our upcoming stay because I liked the location/view. The other two appeared to be hidden in the trees a little more, not sure about the view.

Fun planning, isn't it!

I just spent a night in Pizote in June. The cabin is nice and the view is great.

I was in Bambu as well on another trip and the view of the ocean was limited but that is where the Scarlet macaws seemed to congregate so that was a definite plus.

Pizote was excellent. WE stayed there for 3 nights. Awesome view of the Pacific from the cabin. You can also see the pacific from the open air bath.

When we were there, I asked the man staying in Pizote if it was his first visit to BdC, and he said that it was his 14th visit, so I'm thinking he knows a good cabin when he sees one - I'd go Pizote. If I'm not mistaken, it's right next to Toucan?

I think shillmac recently stayed in El Sol, cause she liked the view a lot from the shower (silly girl !!! Honestly once I get from Mariposa to Gecko I'm good then I start losing track of which is which. Sounds like Pizote has a good view but I'm sure all of them have their own charms!

Tully, I can help you with the next one next to Gecko - it's Toucan.

The only ones I know are Mariposa, Congo, Lapa then ?????? then Gecko, then Toucan, then I think Pizote then ?????

I wish they would put some signs/names on them. We were trying to find dinner companions of ours at their cabin, and then we realized we had no idea which one it was. They were in Congo, so we just looked for the one with the view of "the rock."

Thanks for the info..that it what i thought from the pics but didnt know if any of the others had better facilities. I guess will be going with Pizote then.

Do any of you have any thoughts on the second question conerning staying 4 nights instead of 5 and then doing as i said above and combining it with an extra day and seeing one of the birding sites?

Thanks again. Bill

We stayed a total of 4 nights at BdC, and it really was about the perfect amount of time for us.

It really depends on the person. I've stayed 5 nights and 6 nights, both times happy with the length. I'm not a birder so I'm biased of course as I'd spend the extra night at BdC!

Yep, sold on El Sol! Love standing in that shower looking out to the ocean. .

Also a good view from El Sol. Probably wouldn't go wrong with any of the 3. I just know that the deluxe cabinas disappointed me a bit on the shower view. It's just my perspective, because on our first visit, that lovely shower view made such a huge impression on me! So I guess I tend to think of that a bit more!

Hi Tully and all!

volcanogirl an tully -

I'm not sure where Toucan is, but Gecko is next to Pizote. I think the white stucco are all deluxe, while the thatched siding one's are standard, right?

Hi tully aka Midori Mmmm. Love that stuff!

So is Toucan a standard? I'm confused. Volcanogirl?

From the left after Gecko is Pizote...and then...?

Put a note in the BDC suggestion box to put a little map on their website!

Hi, all - if you're facing the ocean/gulf then Toucan is just to the right of Gecko. And Toucan is a deluxe with a loft. We'll get this figured out eventually!

Don't forget Manglillo - it's a deluxe loft too. Yes, a map would be a great idea!
