BACK FROM IXTAPA

We just returned last week from Ixtapa and just absolutely loved it. We did not do an All-Inclusive - stayed at the Riviera Beach. Weather was perfect and not the hustle and bustle of Cancun. I would be glad to answer any questions

Did you happen to take a side trip to Troncones?

VICKI Mar 4th, 2004 11:09 AM

No, we didn't take that trip. We were really lazy and spent most of our time or the beach or exploring the restuarants and shops

were there alot of spring brekers there at that time? we are leaving on march 10 to cancun and are HOPING that we are missing the majority of the spring breakers. please advise

Vicki
There really is no hustle and bustle in Cancun.
If you stay at your resort in Cancun and not go to downtown Cancun...then it is pretty peaceful.
Ixtapa is smaller and there are less hotels there spread along the beach.
Also almost all the workers in Ixtapa live in Zihuatanejo.
Did you visit Zihuatanejo and the five beaches there.?
Did you go to Ixtapa Island.?
By Riveria , do you mean the Riveria Resort Hotel next to the Presidental -Inter Continental Hotel?
Right across the street from the Riveria , there is a great Ice Cream place, did you get a chance to try their "to -die for" Coconut ice cream.??
You went at a less busy time...just before the upcoming Spring Break.
Let me know what ,if any ,were some of the tours you took.
Thanks
Percy

Will try to answer questions in order--there were no spring breakers when we were there. It is a more laid-back atmosphere, so not as attractive to young people.
Yes, we stayed at the Riveria and really enjoyed it. Went into ZIH and spent some time and there and had dinner. Since we were there for only four days, did not do any sightseeing trips. Yes, the ice cream is wonderful--I wish I had some right now as it is cold and snowy.
We enjoyed the area so much that we plan to go back next year for two weeks.
If I left out any questions - let me know

Thanks Vicki for your report! Have you been to other Mexican cities/resorts, and if so, how would Ixtapa compare?
Thank you.

Percy Mar 11th, 2004 06:43 PM

Thanks for your report Vicki;

frankie...hate to butt in on your question to Vicki but maybe I can offer a smaller answer.
I have been to all places in Mexico( the major ones, except Huatulco).
Each place has its own, character and charm, and I am glad I have seen them all more than once.
I have nothing bad to say about any of the other places.
Now someone might say, "Acapulco is just too busy" and "Cancun is so Americanized", and Puerto Vallarata is "this" and "Manzanillo is too hilly", etc,etc....
I stayed a lovely resorts in all the places, took terrific tours, saw a lot of different Mexican traditions and saw lots of the countryside during these tours.

I would go back to anyone of those places...but not until I go to Huatulco first, that is next on the list and soon!
With Ixtapa and Zihuatanejo, it is like you are getting a 2 for 1 .!!
The tourist area of Ixtapa and the small town charm of Zihuatanejo.
And the bus ride between the two places is 50cents US, but I hear it is now 60 cents US

Percy: My next vacation will be to check out Huatulco. I have been to PV, Cancun and Ixtapa. Am anxious to hear from anyone who has been there

We are looking at this same hotel for our spring break the first week in April. What kind of a room did you have? Did you get a continental breakfast with your room? Was it clean? Do you mind telling what you paid?

Thanks!
