Congrats on the baby! I leave next month (Feb 11th) to visit Costa Rica...AND I'll be 19/20 weeks pregnant. I'm not sure how pregnant you are. We had the trip planned for over a year and I figure I'll do easy going activities! I'll let you know how I make out!

I have read that the bugs can be bad. You might want to look at getting Avon's Skin so Soft. I just saw my OB and that is what he recommended for bug spray.

TravelLover -- Congrats to you on your little one!
Would LOVE to know how you make out with activities and things to do while pregnant! I am currently 16 weeks, and will be 25 weeks along by the time we go. (We must have nearly the same due date - Im July 3rd) I would have liked to go sooner, but our babysitters (grandma & grandpa) were only available then, .

I actually just asked my doctor about the thermal springs - (I was looking forward to doing that in Arenal) and she said its definetly a no-no .

Anyway, where in CR are you going and for how long? Would love to hear more about your trip.

In October 2015, a CDC report alerted the public to avoid travel to CR when pregnant or trying to conceive because of the Zika virus. This virus is transmitted by mosquitos, and causes microcephaly in the fetus (small brain) or even death. Numerous cases were documented... Their recommendation is not to go. Having sex with an infected partner or sharing sex toys can also pass on the virus to the mother who passes it on to the fetus whether symptoms are present or absent. Advice is to avoid sex all together. If a man is infected, wait 6 months before having sex. If a woman is infected, wait 2 months before having sex. Consult the CDC and your national health information website for more details.

Wow, this thread is seven years old. Hopefully this couple has a child in kindergarten!
