BA-Taxi, airport transfer?

Any thoughts on the best way to get from the airport (EZE) to the city? We are staying at the Four Seasons in Recoleta. They want $70 for a private transfer which seems steep. How safe are the taxis? Which ones are the best to take from the airport and how does one make sure you are in the right type of taxi?

If that is U$70 one way, it is very steep.

There are two good forms of transportation...a remis is a private car, that can be booked from one of the booths in the airport as you exit customs or arranged in advance from a reputable service such as Ana Luna http://www.ana-luna.com/

Taxis can be safely arranged for about 50 pesos (divide by 3 for dollar price) by going to the blue/white booth in the main terminal beyond the cordoned off area that is for arriving passengers or by going outside to one of the black/yellow booths. Either type of taxi is safe, provided you book from the booths rather than just grabbing a cab from curbside or allowing one of the people in the lobby to usher you to a waiting taxi. Go to a booth.

In town, get the hotel to phone for a radio taxi. If you go out to a restaurant, ask them to phone for a radio taxi to take you home. Radio taxis say radio taxi, so they are easy to identify.

Are you sure it is 70 dollars, not 70 pesos? For 70 dollars, they should bring you to the 4 Seasons in a Rolls-Royce.

Drdawggy and AV Rooster, the quote I got for total transportation cost in Buenos Aires:
1. from the international airport to the hotel,
2. from the hotel to the domestic airport and
3.from the domestic airport to the hotel (I will be flying to El Cafate from Buenos Aires and returning to Buenos Aires)
4.and from the hotel to the international airport was $111. (definitely dollars)
Does that sound reasonable to you? I was a bit surprised it was so high.

It IS high. Why don't you get in touch with Ana Luna? www.ana-luna.com
