BA day Trip
One day available for an excursion from BA. Should it be San Antonio de Areco/estancia, river delta to Tigre, or Colonia?
|
A day in an estancia is another option.
There are all kind of Estancias, I enjoyed going to estancia Los Dos Hermanos. I chose this estancia because they offer excellent horse riding as well as a full day out. Great food, a pool, and a charming ambiance. The owners are there . On the whole I loved it. |
I have been to four estancias, Colonia (4 times), and the river delta/Tigre (twice).
I agree with Graziella: Estancia los Dos Hermanos would be my choice for a repea...provided you like horseback riding. |
Estancia it is. Not that much into horseback riding, an hour is enough. WOW recommends El Ombu. Any experience with them? I am still celebrating my bruin victory over the hated trojans.

I liked Dos Hermanos but I also have the highest respect for WoW. Buena suerte.

Dos hermanos is best for those who really want to spend the day riding horses, with lots of eating in between jaunts. Many of the other estancias are set up for shorter rides and feature a wider variety of activities. I have never been to el Ombu, but, like Graziella, I trust Cintia's judgement.

Thanks for the info and opinions. This form and your participation is a great help for those of us taking our first trip to Argentina.

We took a train to Tigre and got on a boat. Get there before 10 am. (train station is next to the boats) and take a few hours on the river. Make sure you can get off the boat to visit an island and have lunch and walk around the island. alana

Alana : We are considering a day trip to Tigre and the delta. Did you buy a tour package or just go on your own. Any suggestions how best to do this ? Mind if I email you for more information ? Thanks

Alana : I just found what I need on another thread. It mentioned this URL:

We took an early train 8 am to Tigre. Do not take the ghost train, you'll have to walk to the boats. Just take a regular train to Tigre and the boats are across the street. No need for a tour. Try and arrive before 10 am. and take the boat that lets you get off at the islands. this trip takes all day, but it's so beautiful and very cheap. Have lunch at one of the islands. Good luck. alana
