Avoid Royal Solaris Cancun!
 

I just returned from the Royal Solaris Cancun and was seriously disappointed with my stay there. Half of the hotel is currently "under construction" which leaves only 3 of the 8 restaurants open. Only 2 restaurants are open at any given time, one nice (al la carte), one buffett in a cafeteria-style room. The wait at the nicer restaurant was an hour and it took 2 hours to be served our entrees. The disco, beach bar, cafe and salon were all closed as well. The pictures of the rooms on their website are misleading. The rooms pictured were in the half that was closed, the ones we stayed in were small and didn't have a balcony. <BR>Overall extremely disappointing.

Wow! That sucks. We were trying to decide between the Royal Solaris and the Gran Caribe. We ended up making a reservation at the Gran Caribe and after reading your message I think we made the right decision! Thanks!!!

Anyone got an up to date report on the Omni Hotel? Construction etc.?

We drove past the Omni several times from solaris...it's a beautiful hotel. Didn't look like it was under construction from the road...

Is the Solaris part of the Royal Resorts complex which include the Mayan, Caribbean, etc.?
