Aventura Spa Palace -or- The Royal Playa del Carmen???

We are 3 women traveling to Mexico August 20-24. We're looking to relax and hopefully enjoy some tasty food (I know not all All Inclusives have decent meals).

We are trying to decide between the Aventura Spa Palace and The Royal in Playa del Carmen. Also, I noticed that Aventura is adults only and The Royal is not and wasn't sure if anyone could comment on how the presence of children impacted their time at The Royal?

Another thing that might help in dispensing advice is that we plan to spend most of our time at the resort and may do one excursion or day in town but that is it.

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Actually, the Royal Playa del Carmen has been adults only since last November. I think you'd have a better time there. The Aventura Spa Palace doesn not have a real beach, but rather has a man made lagoon.
The Royal Playa del Carmen has a great beach, good food, wonderful service, IS ADULTS ONLY, is right in Playa. You just walk down the street to 5th Ave for your shopping and off the resort fun. No excursion to town needed...you're already there!

Yup, and it is very pretty. The Royal is right in town so you don't need to excursion there; just walk up the block.
