August Weather in Puerta Vallarta

My boyfriend and I want to book a trip to Puerta Vallarta in the middle of August. I have been told that it is the rainy season...has anyone been there in August, and how bad is the "rainy" season. I had traveled to Acapulco many times in August, and only once it had rained, and only for one afternoon. Any suggestions?

Typically if there is no hurricane off-shore it will be hot and muggy with clear skies early in the day, with increasing clouds in the afternoon and, often, rains and possible thunderstorms at night.

If there's a hurricane off-shore the rains will be much heavier.

Not that much different than Miami in August ... go for it if that's the only time you can get away.

Hot & humid with some rain possible.

That said, I'd go to PV any month of the year!! (seriously)

hot and humid, we experienced afternoon rain showers. I'd go again, too!

The truth is that when there's a hurricane off shore, we generally get a slow, light rain for a day, instead of the usually 2 hour downpour.
