I visited Costa Rica in August a few years ago. Although it did rain fairly often, it was still very comfortible and did not hamper the trip at all. I brought a rain jacket that cost about $2.00 at REI and folded into a 2" square. It was all I needed. Go. Have fun.

This is a good question- but WHERE are you considering going?

I am going to Cancun in late July through early August. Anyone have any thoughts on the weather at that time?

Thanks,
Shawnie :)

Been going to Cozumel in late July
for 5 years now, it's hot but not
any worse than it is in South Carolina
at that time of the year. Besides, getting hot is just another excuse for diving into that crystal clear water!
Go enjoy your trip.
