atv jungle excursion to cenote
Has anyone taken the atv jungle excursion where you go swimming in one of the cenotes? Any feedback would be welcome.

We stayed in Playa del Carmen in 8- 2001 and did an ATV tour through the jungle stopping at Mayan Ruins, a bat cave and a cenote for swimming. I do not remember the name of the company. We booked it directly through the hotel we were staying at. We really enjoyed this excursion.
When we returned in 11-2002, we wanted to do the trip again and booked an ATV tour called Indiana Joe. It went out of Maroma Beach in Playa del Carmen. We rode through this jungle area and then on the beach. No cenote this time. We didn't like this trip as much as the first one. Try doing a google search and see if you can find a web-site or hopefully some one that did that tour and can remember their name will respond. |
Something to think about is whether eco-minded tourists should support ATV activites. If it gets popular, more people will offer them and I can't believe they are a good thing for the wildlife and the environment. Personlaay, as for myself, I've decided not to support it. I'm sure there are some places where ATVs are appropriate, but I don't think they have a place in eco-tourism.......

I just realize you weren't talking about Costa Rica. Sorry - I actually saw an ATV tour advertised in Costa Rica and it got me thinking about the appropriateness. I don't know the environment around Playa del Carmen so maybe it's appropriate there.
