Asuncion to Iguazu

Does anyone know of an airline that flies between Asuncion and the argentine side of the falls? We are looking at Mid April. Has anyone driven it. How are the roads? How long will it take? Books are vague at best. Any unexpected surprise we should look out for? Thanks

TAM flies from Asuncion to Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. From there you would have to cross the border to Brazil, and then to Argentina and its side of the falls.

can you not get from ciudad de este to argentine side without going thru Brazil?

I don't believe so. Ciudad del Este is north of the point where Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil meet. Its border crossing takes you to Foz do Iguacu, Brazil.

Is the need for a visa the reason you don't want to go via Brazil?

I believe I did this with AA miles once.

Yes...we are staying at the Sheraton and thought to avoid the cost of the Brazil visa. Do they issue any type of transit visa to get to the AR side? If we go by bus from Ciudad de Este does this avoit this problem?
