Thanks avrooster. This looks really interesting. A supplementary question.. We are looking to buy souvenirs for family back home (at least our old home!!). As we have plenty of time in your wonderful country and will be travelling around quite alrge parts of it, would you say it is it better (in terms of price and quality) to shop as we go through the provinces or wait until we get to BA? We are mostly looking for leather belts, purses etc. and the gaucho knives -crillos/facos??

Not absolutely sure, but it stands to reason that the shopping should be better in the provinces.

"-crillos/facos??"?????????????????

"Crillos" COULD be "cuchillos"=knives.

"Facos" is probably "facón"=large gaucho knife.

If you are going to Salta, ask Angie, who posts here as Flintstones.
