Argentina Suggestions
My friend and I are planning a semi last minute trip to Argentina October 17-25. (I usually have much more time to research)
As it stands now we plan on staying in Buenos Aires the 17-21, Mendoza the 22-23 and the last 3 days are unaccounted for.
Any suggestions? This entire itinerary is flexible as it is both of our first trips. Patagonia? Salta?
This itinerary is a blank slate, help!

Great! You are coming to wonderful Argentina!
About your question, I'd choose Salta, because 3 days are certainly not enough for our South. In Salta, you could tour the highlights.
Be sure to fly LAN and allow plenty of time if you plan to connect with your international flight back home.
Have a great time in our country.

I agree that Salta is a great destination, but I have to respectfully disagree with Avrooster. I don't think that your time frame is enough for all three destinations. I think that you have enough time for two places, IMO, particularly given the state of air travel in Argentina, and the need to connect through BA.

I should have added that if your itinerary is a blank slate, if you could give an idea of what you are looking for, it might give people an idea of what destinations to suggest to you. Personally, I would do the entire time that you are not going to be in BA in the NW. We were there for five days, and I would have loved it to have been longer.
It is difficult to break up travel in ARgentina into just 2-3 day stops in each, particularly if those include travel days.

With just 8 days I would not include a 3rd destination. It would be quite easy to spend the entire time in BA. U could do daytrips if you wanted to leave the city. Or I would also consider Iguazu Falls and do BA and the Falls.

I tend to agree with skatedancer and yestravel, but I was restricting my reply to the OP's question.
I love it when someone disagrees with me, but I hate it when someone "respectfully disagrees", because it makes me feel older than I am. Just kidding. LOL!!!

Iguazu Falls is spectacular and the perfect place to visit in a 2 or 3 day timeframe. If you add a location to your itinerary, that would be the perfect choice. However, I agree with others that you may want to stick to 2 locations in a week. You'll need to fly between each location... getting to the airport 2 hrs early, flying, then getting from the airport to hotel will eat up a minimum of half a day each time you fly. Consider carefully how much time you will have to actually enjoy each location you visit.
Argentina is a beautiful country. I'm sure you will love it no matter what you choose!

I feel the Nw is a great choice and, as Skatedancer you can get a great experience with nature, History, Architecture...food and wines...
Nobody regreted coming to this area. Not yet, and you will not be the first...
On the other hand, if it would be the AVRooster´s choice, who would dare to say the opposite? LOL!
Flintstones.
