Argentina itinerary help

We are traveling to Argentina in October from 10/17 - 11/1. We would love any advice you could give us on our itinerary. We plan on arriving in Buenos Aires on 10/17 and staying for 5 nights, then we plan on going to Iguaza falls for 1 night (2 full days) and then onto Mendoza. We love good food and good wine, so we want to spend enough time in Mendoza (3 nights?).

Any recommendations on where we should visit after Mendoza? We thought about taking a bus to Santiago, but we also are interested in Pantagonia and seeing the penguins.

Thanks!

If you want to see penguins in Patagonia, then you should either visit Puerto Madryn or Ushuaia, but taking into account that there are no direct flights from Mendoza. You will have to return to Buenos Aires and make a connection.
With 15 days in Argentina, I would divide them this way:

Buenos Aires - 5 nights
Iguazu- 2 nights
Mendoza - 4 nights
Puerto Madryn or Ushuaia - 4 nights

I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Do you recommend visiting Puerto Madryn over Santiago? Thanks for the info.

We did the bus from Mendoza to Santiago. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. We got to see to Andes up close. Spectacular but long.

Of course, we were flying out of Santiago. We didn't make it to Patagonia and regretted it. Maybe take a day trip from Mendoza into the Andes/Aconcuagua then finish up in Patagonia?

Good luck and post a trip report.

If we go to Santiago from Mendoza, we were planning on taking the bus, and we would return home from Santiago. We also want to go to Pantagonia, so we are having a difficult time making a decision. We will post a trip report. Thanks!

Well I don't know Santiago, but if you are really into wildlife (not only penguins but whales, sea lions, seals, killer whales), then you should definitively visit Puerto Madryn and Peninsula Valdes.
You will find information on these sites:

how are you planning on getting from the falls to mendoza?? i am having trouble with this trip leg

We have not figured if out that out yet. It looks like you need to book a round trip flight from Buenos Aires to Iguazu and Buenos Aires to Mendonza. I will let you know if I learn more.

One night is not enough at Iquazu Falls. We wished that we had more than our three nights at the Sheraton. Splurge for the falls view room and hop on "The Great Adventure" boat ride that will take into the falls----yup, you will get wet.
