Such a great trip report! I really enjoyed reading it. So many details. You had such a great trip. I loved the turtles in Turtuguero too - it truely is amazing to see her laying those eggs....something magical about it. You described it with such emotion and really hit the nail on the head about the whole experience.

Your family is so lucky to have such a great mom to plan such a great trip for them!

Thanks for sharing!

Great report, especially about seeing the turtle and the impact of that experience. Very kind and helpful guy on the bus, it's always a pleasure to come across that on travels and it happens a lot in CR!

Wonderful report, enjoyed all the details. Can't wait till it is my turn to go. If you are going to Tortuguero 1st would you still take the Cano Negro tour in Aranel? Sounds like we will see so much in Tortuguero already.......

Thank you for all your kind comments! I love to travel and having my nearly grown kids with me just adds to the pleasure and adventure. My day camp counselor kid didn't want to go at first and demanded (ha!) that I reimburse him for the lost week (did NOT happen, LOL). Now he can't stop talking about the trip. ShellD, your comment means so much to me, thanks!! I don't drive a new car and have the newest furniture but I'm sure trying to make the most of what the wide wide world has to offer.

gojo; originally I thought we would do Cano Negro too, but it did seem to be a bit redundant in terms of water travel and wildlife. It was a longer day trip to get there too, so we blew it off.

If you are doing Tortuguero first, just wait until you get to Arenal and if you haven't gotten enough and want more, you can easily book when you arrive there.
