HOLBOX island in the Yucatan peninsula. Plus the great news that the bus company called ADO (similar to Greyhound), now offers a direct route to the village of Chequila (ferry dock). You can take the bus from Cancun bus station or Playa del Carmen bus station or Tulum bus station (in the high season). where you take the ferry to Isla Holbox. This place still offers sandy roads (including the odd dustdevil) small village with great eating and clean affordable rooms. The bus trip takes about 2.5 hours from Cancun, where it used to take a little over 4 hours in the past. I have not taken the new bus route yet but it is said that you should check the schedule beforehand as this service applies only at certain periods mostly high season.

Sorry but ADO (Or any other Mexican bus line) Is Nothing like Greyhound. Far superior to Greyhound in every way, Clean, Rest Rooms, Movies very comfortable lay back seats.

To what bus line would you compare it to then Stewbear... I know that here in Canada our best bus line is known as Voyageur, what would it be in the USA seeing as in your opinion, Greyhound does not compare to ADO.
By the way, there are 3 different classes of ADO buses available in Mexico:
1- Classic (red bus)
2- Signature (gold coloured)
3- Signature Plus series (also gold coloured) but supply water bottles, newspaper and a little bit more comfort and quieter ride.
The bus available for Chequila is the classic one (red) and the other more expensive series mainly go to Merida and lengthy trips.
As far as all other Mexican bus lines go, let me just say that the Mayab series and others like it are second class and believe me... they are nothing like what you have in the States or in Canada for that matter !
