Architecture Tour Guide Recommendation in Buenos Aires?
 

I'd love a recommendation for a tour guide in Buenos Aires, ideally one with knowledge about the architecture of the city, in addition to the usual historical and cultural elements. Thanks! Anne

If you are interested in B.A. architecture probably the Recoleta cementery will interest you. Theres an interesting book/ guide "Ciudad de Ángeles" "City of Angels" by Omar Lòpez Mato, been told its in English too .
Costs about A $ 25.

I'm so happy to have an excellent recommendation for you.

We used Robert Wright who has a great website indepth.com.ar I didn't call him until we arrived in BA and it was easy to arrange to meet. We did a tour of Art Nouveau architecture and I wished we'd had more time to do other tours with him.

The tour was both engaging and fascinating with lots of architectural interest and very affordable. We stopped for a short break half way through and ended at a wonderful cafe. We liked Robert very much he's very well informed, warm and friendly.

He works as a tour guide with Rick Steves and so it's worth checking that he is in BA when you go.

I would like the Delta and Tigre area being included in his tours, (I am a Nautical tours provider in that area building experience to offer the best i can ).
Will take one of his tours when he comes back to B.A. , think its July.

I have used Eternautas extensively. While some individual guides are better than others, most their specialized tours are superb. Very knowledgeable staff!

Marcelo for the Jewish Buenos Aires tour or for the "hidden Buenos Aires" tour does a superb job.

Maru (not sure of spelling)is very knowledgeable about the Dirty War and the efforts of the Madres. She can take you to some off the beaten path sites related to this dark period in Argentine history....

Some of the tours are more ordinary, such as the Market tours....which consist of little more than taking you to the ferias and establishing a time to meet up later....but for the most part, this is an excellent agency.

As Robert Wright will be away while I'm in Buenos Aires, I'll probably use Eternautas. Their rate for 2 people for their basic tours is $90US, which seems expensive. Could anyone tell me his/her experience with their rates? Any other recommendations? Is there an alternative to Robert Wright? I'm disappointed he won't be available while I'm there. Thanks so much.

Wow !! U$S 45 per pax. sounds very expensive !! is it a full day walking tour that includes beverages or something extra ??

I'm sorry he won't be there when you're in BA...I didn't get any other leads on walking tours so I'm afraid I can't help.

Santiagov...do try out the tour, Robert was very focused and good for us because he really talked about the architecture and the links between art nouveau in BA and in Europe which was fascinating.

He carried a folio of information with photos to show us additional buildings and some that had been pulled down or modified.

Frankly I wish we'd had someone half as engaging for our tour of Brasilia! The architecture was astonishing but the guide really just drove us from place to place!
