apartment in BA
We are returning to BA for an extended stay of 4 to 6 weeks. Looking for an apartment or other accomodation that would give us a kitchen area as well as a bit more living space. Would like to walk to restaurants, grocery stores, bus stops, etc. Also, looking for a price moderate enough so that we could also take multiple side trips to explore other parts of Argentina while we are there. Any suggestions?

If you have not already done so, check www.tripadvisor.com Argentina forums. There was a recent posting from someone who had a great apartment rental in Buenos Aires.
|
www.apartmentsba.com is the site the traveller so enthusiastically endorsed. Buen viaje. Be sure and post a trip report when you return.
|
I don't think apartmentsba's price will be "moderate"
|
Check him out, of course!!!

Apartmentsba offers some great choices, but as AV mentions they not qualify as moderate in price.
www.internetvacationzone.com offers a one bedroom apartment across the street from the Four Seasons hotel. nice owners. I have stayed with them twice. www.shortstayinba.com offers two apartments. The apartment in Recoleta is more moderately priced than the one in Palermo. I have stayed in the apartment in Palermo twice for extended periods. Highly recommend shortstayinba. bytargentina, which I have never used, offers a variety of lower priced options..... good luck |
Thank you for the suggestions. I'll check them out. Has anyone used Bals at balsargentina.com.ar? They were recommended to us by a friend.
|
Never heard of this agency, but there are dozens of new rental agencies....many of which list the same apartments.
|
TRY CONTACTING A FRIEND THAT HAS SOME APARTMENTS ... [email protected] ... I STAYED IN ONE OF THEM IN PALERMO DISTRICT, A STUDIO WITH A FANTASTIC VIEW AND REASONABLE PRICE. I BELIEVE SHE HAS IN SOME OTHER AREAS.

FranandJim: I would stick with the well-known firms.

There is a building in one of the most fashionable areas in Buenos Aires, 6 blocks from Recoleta, near Embassies and top clothes shops, with separate kitchens and terraced balconies.Good option for the ones who want the independence of a flat and the services of a hotel. Minimum stay 7 days. 2 enormous rooms for around 60 u$s. good value. www.vincihotel.com.ar.

Milla. This appears to be a broken link. ARe you sure the url is correct? Thanks

I recently stayed a couple of weeks in a very nice apartment right in the center of Recoleta. It's owned by an American who lives in BA. His website is www.argentinaconexion.com.
The cool thing is that he can accept credit cards for the reservation and rental deposit. This is an issue because many apartment owners insist on having you Western Union cash to them to secure their apartments. |
Wow, williamwalters! that is a very nice apt and a great price! Did you feel safe in the neighborhood in the evenings? Did you have to take taxis everytime you went out or was it a comfortable walk to the sights?
I am just beginning my research so I am fuzzy on distances :) But that apt is really appealing. |
Scarlett.
William can provide you more details, but I can give you a general idea. The address puts this apartment in the middle of the action in Recoleta. Location could not be closer to restaurant row, the weekend market and Recoleta Cemetary. My only question would be about noise, since it is so close to everything and and the night time crowds are huge up and down Junin, especially on weekends. You could walk to downtown, but you probably would prefer to take a taxi. |
Milla,
Could this be the aparthotel you were talking about? http://www.davinciresidence.com/index.html I have searched and searched and this and a Howard Johnsons Davinci were the two options I came up with..... I have way too much time on my hands, with a holiday weekend and time off work. lol |

i m sorry i havent been here for a while and i just came across your question about the flat. Yes. that is the building i was refering to. new web i guess so sorry i didnt see your post before. you would not have wasted your time. |
The Davinci Apts are beautiful but how do you get prices? Must you email for all prices ?
I find apartments.ba to be a bit high rent. For those prices, I think I would rather have the room service and someone else can make the bed :) |
Hi Scarlett and cmcfong - I've been reading your posts on the Fodors and trip advisor boards, love all your replies. I see you are both planning a trip to Argentina, we just ret'd from our second trip, 1st was BA, Iguazu Falls, Ushuaia, Chile, Bariloche. This trip we did the Northwest (Jujuy/Salta) to Mendoza then Uruguay. If you need any advice or assistance with your planning, please let me know. We live in NY, in the past have always travelled to Europe, but are now hooked on Argentina.

owlwoman: did you fly b/t salta and mendoza and if so, did you buy your tx in the US. Also was it a connection through BA or did you fly b/t those cities. And I guess I have to ask if it was really costly or just sort of costly...
