Anyone successful at getting tickets to the Frida Kahlo exhibit in Mexico City?

A friend has been trying to get tickets to the big exhibit at the Palacio Del Bellas Artes through ticketmaster.mx but hasn't been successful at getting that to work. It wants you to have a password for ticketmaster.mx but when she gets one she still isn't successful at purchasing tickets on there, even though it looks like there are evening tickets available throu end of July.

Has anyone been able to get them somehow before leaving the U.S.?

Thanks in advance for any help.

hiya have been into the ticketmaster mexico site and it seems they only deliver within mexico and you can only print off the tickets you buy like an e-ticket if you live in mexico. on the US site it says they have no tickets on sale for it. So when she goes into site, go into ticketmaster mexico site, and choose option in english, then puts in frida kahlo, chooses date she wants to visit, chooses no of tickets, then on shipping she'll have to choose will call, and pick the tickets up there in mexico but UP TO 1 DAY BEFORE, not on day, and then will have to put in her details etc. Hope this helps

Even when we do "will call," when you get to the page where you have to enter your Address, the only option for "country" is Mexico...I am beginning to think you can't order tickets online if you are outside Mexico.

hiya, yes it seems so, no chance un;less you live in mexico or unless you know someone who lives there and could pick them up for you. 5512-3633 is the telephone of bellas artes and they'll be able to let you know, depends on how your spanish is. Good luck.

Thanks. I think we will just forego the cheaper hotels and use hotel points to stay in a hotel w/a concierge who can help. Someone on another travel board was able to walk up and get tickets on a Thurs. at some point. But we want Fri. and it is now Mexican travel season so don't want to get shut out of this one.

I just phoned the ticket office at the Palacio Del Bellas Artes about tickets for end of July, and was told it is fine to buy tickets on the day at the museum - no need for advance purchase. After my attempts at Spanish, the attendant responded in English, so if you're in doubt, give them a call: 00 55 5521 9251 - they pass you down the line a few times before you get to the ticket office.

For all of you going, do come back and tell the rest of us how it was.

My husband even bought me a Frida doll for xmas this past year. Would love to go.

We went on Friday, July 13. We just walked up and bought tickets, no problem. Go early, as on our way out the crowd was lined up out the door. We were familiar with some of the pieces, others were a real revelation. The building itself is also amazing--I hadn't been there since going to the Ballet Folklorico maybe 25 years ago. Still seem to be only two stalls in the women's restroom on the main (second) floor, but at least they now have doors!

Well girls, the boys got a feel for what us women go through this past trip for me in CR.

I was the only female in a tree identification course so I had no problem using the bathroom. It was a real joy to see the guys lined up.

I will have to open my Frida books again and imagine I am seeing the pictures in Mexico I guess. Don't think I am going to get down there. Enjoy all!

According to the beautiful 4-color program received at the exhibit--they sure do print wonderful tickets, materials, etc., even at the smallest museums!--three US museums will participate with an exhibit that includes 66 of Frida's works: the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, from October 7, 2007 until January 20, 2008; the Philadelphia Art Museum, from February 19 to May 18, 2008; and the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, June 14 to September 16, 2008. Of course, the Mexico City exhibit includes over 300 works.

Thank you! Philly would be the best bet for me. 66 is better than nothing.
