Most everyone does the 3 day/2 night trip and every other person in Uyuni sells them.

We booked with Emprexsa, one of the best tour agencies, $65 ea, and they provided (new) clean sleeping bags if you ask.

We could not have had a better experience w/Emprexsa . . . our guide and cook were excelent. This is not a luxury trip but a fun, once-in-a-(young)-lifetime trip . . . prima donas need not apply.

We are budget travelers, seniors . . . if interested in what we did/where we went in 2 weeks in Bolivia, email me and I'll send you my detailed report . . . more than you ever wanted to know about me, Vicki, the trip.

Hope you have a terrific trip . . . we did.

I did the Salar de Uyuni trip in June 2006 on a tour.

Please note that the area is very remote and quite isolated. There were villages but we were not taken to markets to shop in the Salar area. When I was visiting in June, the weather was very cold. Our tour leader booked a local tour from Uyuni that took us to the Chilean border and we stocked up our supplies in Potosi prior to going to Uyuni. I bought my winter jacket and other winter supplies in Potosi. Our tour leader rented the sleeping bags for us prior to leaving for the Salar.

thanks for the info - the biggest problem seems to be finding reputable tour guides - ive heard so many bad stories...

Oops . . . I forgot to include my email address . . . [email protected].

Shmulib . . . I'll send it right away.

Anyone else, please email me if you want my travelog . . . these posts get buried so fast, I can't keep up.

Thanks,

I'm looking into a possible trip to the salt flats for the April/March 2010 time frame. Will it be easy for a solo traveller to join a group service for the salar de uyuni trip? Thanks.
