Any Hotels in Cancun with Carpet?
I was in Cancun ten years ago and remember lots of noise. I was shocked with how the hotels I stayed at lacked any sound proofing and the fact that we there was no carpet made a big diference. There was no way to soften the sounds from the hall and the next room.
Is there anyplace in Cancun that has carpet to help with the noise. |
I don't know if any hotels in Cancun have carpet, but I would doubt it.
Traditional tile floors in Mexican homes and businesses are there for a reason. They are easy to clean with a mop, and (relatively) cool in the summer. Also, in most lowland areas non air conditioned spaces the wet season brings mold and mildew that could make wall to wall carpets a smelly nightmare. I know, all of those hard, flat, surfaces make corridors echo like a locker room, but that is part of the difference/charm of travelling in a different land. |
bring earplugs or a noise machine -- they are my best friends when travelling!

I do not think you have thought this through. Carpet at the beach? Horrible ides. Hotel carpet anywhere is a germ cover filthy mat! At the beach it is 10 times worth. Be glad for the clean tile!

We have been to Cancun and south of there many times and have NEVER seen a hotel with carpet. Neither the IC, the Omni, the Marriott, nor the Ritz Carlton have carpet in the rooms.

I have seen lots of carpeted rooms with better sound proofing in Hawaii right on the beach. Why not Mexico?

Ack, mouldy carpeting. Thanks, I like Mexico the way it is. Without the worn mouldy carpeting and with the authentic tile.

Carpeting at the beach in Mexico is a very bad idea!! (Damp, mouldy, stained, hard to clean, etc.) That's why all local homes, and most hotels have tile floor, and they clean with brooms and mops, not vacuum cleaners.
Even if Hawaii hotels, I much prefer (and often find) a hard-surface floor. |
