Anniversary trip to Mexico

We are are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in December and are looking for a romantic 4 night getaway. We like the beach, snorkling, music in the evenings, a little pampering and total relaxation. We are thinking of either Playa del Carmen or Ixtapa.(we've been to Cancun, Cozumel and Puerto Vallarta). Any stong preferences? I know the snorkling is better in PDC but that isn't a high priority. How about resorts? (we are fine with either all inclusive or European Plan). Would like a 5 or 6 star. Thanks for your help. We appreciate any and all suggestions.

Look at Royal Hideaway in PDC.
Intercontinental Paraiso close to PDC.
Hotel Secreto on Isla Mujeres.
Hotel Maroma close to PDC.
Private luxury villa with cook and pool on beach in Akumal at locogringo.com
Ceiba del Mar in Puerto Morelos.

Try Villa del Sol or La Casa Que Canta in Zihuatanejo (small town 4 miles from Ixtapa). These are gorgeous, top of the line luxury hotels. Villa del Sol is on the beach; La Casa Que Canta is built into the cliffs above the beach, but they do have a saltwater pool which is fantastic. Also an infinity pool which overlooks the ocean. Huge suites with private infinity pools. Amazing service. Very very private, no outside guests until 6pm. Villa del Sol is also fantastic, they too have rooms with private pools. Right on La Ropa, the prettiest beach.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was really hoping to hear some recommendations for this area also. How will the weather in Ixtapa compare with Playa del Carmen in December?

We loved Shangri-La Caribe in PDC - can't say enough good things about it.

I vote for the Ixtapa area. We have visited all of the Mexican resorts, and like this best. The two aforementioned hotels in Zihua would be perfect. 30 years is something to celebrated in this age of McMarriage so go for the gold. Pamper and be pampered.
