For Loz--

Maybe a 10 peso coin left each day on the bed for the room maid. If it's someone you like alot, a place you return to, or they have done you extra favors, maybe a little more.

A funny story is in PV when I had a room next to a friend, she had one tiniest towel, and I had a bunch of nice ones. She noticed, and I asked "did you tip the maid?". (she hadn't). I love to support people who work so hard and are good to me, but you also might make friends easier (and get more towels!).

Hey Dude and Suze. Thanks for replying. We are going to PDC in July, staying at Porto Real (Not AI) - as we figure there are so many restaurant to choose from. It takes 25 hours travelling time from Melbourne Australia to Playa Del Carmen. And all for only two weeks. By reading all this it sounds worth it!

I usually tip the maid the day I check out - in some ways tipping daily makes sense. Thanks for the suggestion. Also, my cooking class and tours said I could pay in either US dollars or pesos - in fact, they quoted prices in US dollars. I'll write them ask which they prefer. I may just withdraw pesos via my ATM card during my layover in Mexico city.
