Ambergris Caye (Victoria House) vs Placencia (Turtle Inn) Or Both?

We're hoping to go to Belize in December for 10 days to 2 wks. We'd like to start off in the Cayo district, but would appreciate suggestions on how many days we should spend. After, we want to head to the beach for snorkeling and relaxation. We're not sure if we should be going to both Ambergris Caye (Victoria House) and Placencia (Turtle Inn) or if we should choose one or the other, if they are quite similar. Also, are we crazy not to peak into Guatemala for a night? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!!

Both Turtle Inn and Victoria House are terrific, but in different ways. With two weeks, you could split the time among Cayo, Placencia and San Pedro; with just 10 days, I'd say no more than two.

Yes, by all means you should try to get to Tikal while you're in Cayo, even if only for the day.

Top places like VH and Turtle Inn book up early during the Christmas holidays -- you need to act quickly.

Thanks for your response Lan. If we end up only having 10 days, do u think we should perhaps go to Ambergris Caye for 5 and Placencia for 5 and do day trips from there to the jungle, etc?

Len, It looks like you were right. Turtle and Victoria are both sold out. I can't believe it!
