Ambergris Caye Resorts

Husband and I going to AC for the 1st time. In our early 50's, no children, travel 3 times a year to Caribbean/Mexico. Want resort/condo not too far from town of San Pedro so we can walk 10-15 mins to restaurants, shops, etc. We do enjoy trying different restaurants and eating off property as well as on site. Looking at Las Terrazas, The Phoenix or Coco Beach Resort. Not sure how far they are from town and what transportation is necessary getting to town from each of these properties or if their location is convenient for what we are looking for. Any insight is appreciated. We do like finer, quiet properties. Any other recommendations are welcome.

I'm going to bookmark because I'm interested in Ambergris too.

The Phoenix is a luxury condo-hotel on the north edge of town. LT and CCB are both north of town, across the bridge and accessible by golf cart or water taxi. Also look at Grand Caribe, just north of town on the other side of the bridge, but closer to town.

Grand Caribe is closer to town, than Coco Beach or Las Terrazas, but it still isn't walking distance. At least not at night, it's over a mile from the bridge.

You can also look at Xanadu, a little over a mile south of town, but in that direction, cabs are plentiful and cheap. No on site restaurant though.

I think the new Phoenix is closest to town of the ones you mentioned.

Looks like it will be Coco Beach. Las Terrazas is further north and there are some restaurants at sites nearby. All others we can take a water taxi to. Thanks for the insight.

Coco Beach is beautiful. I had a drink at the pool bar a couple days ago. Amazing pool. Nice stretch of beach, looks like they've cleared away some of the sea grass. Very shallow though for a long ways out.

Enjoy your stay.
